7/5/05

a warm summer night
a cool breeze, wind in the trees
the sound of rustling leaves
flashes of blue and white in the red sky
glittering freedom flies
on a fourth of July
now gently, the sky begins to fall
the soft patter of raindrops in the street
how tranquil, how quiet the world does sleep
but the earth stirs
only a hint of her splendor
the beauty, the wonder
the power of a dark silence
I must never forget
