I set the limit on avatars to 15kb or 80x80 pixels [edit: the pixel limit is now 140x140] (whichever you hit first). I think that's reasonable, but if you think we should have larger ones, I promise to consider your carefully stated case. You can of course upload them, so have fun choosing yourself a face.

P.S. There are, of course, plenty to choose from at Zharth's l33t Avatar Warehouse, though they're slightly [small and] outdated.

I would appreciate slightly larger avatars. I'm really not sure how this whole gig is being hosted, but if larger avatars put a strain on your server usage/bandwidth limit, then smaller ones are fine. I do indeed like having larger avatars. I can't say what a good size is though... 120x120? 180x180? The only reason I was a little annoyed at 80x80 is that I had an already small kakashi avatar that I had to resize even smaller. =\

I come from an era where 50x50 was standard, so to me, 80x80 is actually large. Still, I can up it a little more, since it's not like there isn't space.

Awesome man, thanks. I can understand the size thing given your past experiences. I suppose I'm so used to the stuff we take for granted in these modern times of high-speed, high-storage, high-quality, etc...

Edit: For instance, I can see and appreciate your avatar much better now. Just helps bring out little details.

I /just/ fixed my avatar so that it was 80x80... and now you changed it again.

Now it's good at 140x140. I hope you're happy here.

QQ moar nublet, it's not like you can't do a quick resize from the original image to 140 instead of 80.

Haha, well, I'm happy with this size for now. I've never used an avatar this large before (it seems kind of imposing), but I may as well get with the times. Besides, that Kakashi av does look better larger, after all.

Well, I just made a ton of jumbo size Fate/stay night avatars (from the Visual Novel), with this board in mind. Not sure if anybody would be interested, but if y'ar, here they are. [May contain spoilers]

I may decide to use some in the future.

Well, I seem to have caught the avatar-making bug again, as I've just made almost 100 brand new Code Geass avatars. I made them 100x100 so that they'd be more applicable to a larger variety of boards (and partly because the source material wasn't as nice as that for F/sn). If anybody's interested, you can find them here.

I don't know how much you care about new members or people changing avatars, but there should be plugins that allow you to make a gallery of avatars on the forum itself that you can browse when you go to change your avatar. It would be a little more convenient, I guess.
